From Jerusalem, the tour heads south through the beautiful Judean Desert to the foot of Masada Fortress, located on the Dead Sea.
By cable car you will reach the top of the fortress. Here you have time to enjoy the view and explore archaeological ruins before continuing to the Ein Gedi Nature Reserve. In the desert oasis, you will take a short hike and have the unique opportunity to swim in the waters of the Dead Sea and immerse yourself in the famous mud. Masada is one of Israel’s most important archaeological sites and also the setting for one of the greatest Jewish heroic stories.
The excavated ruins are fascinating to explore, and the remarkable location high above the surrounding desert and Dead Sea makes this an impressive experience.
The Dead Sea is actually a lake whose water is so salty you can swim in it, it is the deepest place in the world. While floating in the water you can read the newspaper without a care or dip into the healing mud, which is sold worldwide as a beauty remedy. Afterwards, you will return to Jerusalem.
The Masada, Ein Gedi and Dead Sea Tour is unique and designed for the independent traveller. No other tour combines these three beautiful sites and offers you the opportunity to hike to the top of the fortress – an important part of any visit! The tour departs daily from Jerusalem.
